DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: North Central United/States and South Central Canada extending west southwest towards the Pacific NW A large area of moderate to very dense smoke extended from portions of South Central Canada just north of the Great Lakes in Western Ontario extending west through the North Central United States and southern portions of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta towards a large number of wildfires over the Pacific Northwest states of Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. BLOWING DUST: Oregon and Washington: A large area of blowing dust was observed over portions of Central Washington and Central Oregon ahead of strong weather system now moving over the Pacific Northwest. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
