DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0300Z December 11, 2015
Mid-Atlantic: A small patch of thin smoke could be seen over the eastern shore of Virginia and far southeastern Maryland moving eastward. This smoke is likely from fires that had been burning in the southeast US yesterday. In addition, there is other unknown aerosol that may be composed of sulfates which can be seen moving east off the coast of New England to the north of the small area of smoke. Sheffler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
