DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Southeastern to South Central US: Similar to the past couple of days, a tremendous number of seasonal fires were detected over the region stretching from Oklahoma and Texas eastward over the Southeastern states to South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Numerous individual smoke plumes of mainly thin density were also noted in visible satellite imagery across this area with a few more significant moderately dense to thick smoke plumes present as well. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
