DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: A large area of thin remnant smoke with an embedded moderately dense patch can be seen moving east off the coast of the Southeast US this afternoon. This smoke is from the large amount of agricultural burning that occurred in the Southeastern US yesterday and that continues today. Some new smoke plumes have already been observed over portions of South Carolina, Georgia, and northern Florida. Sheffler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
