DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0245Z April 12, 2016
Western Gulf of Mexico/Louisiana/Texas: A large area of moderate to light density smoke was extending along the western Gulf of Mexico and the east coast of Mexico extending north/northeast through portions of south and southeast Texas and and into southern Louisiana. The source region for this smoke was daily fire activity over Mexico. Dust: An area of blowing dust was seen dropping south through portions of west central Texas. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
