THROUGH 0215Z April 16, 2016
SMOKE: Central to North Central US and Great Lakes region: Remnant smoke from numerous agricultural burns throughout the Central US likely persists over the upper Midwest; however, cloud cover obscures much of the region. WESTERN GULF: A large area of moderate to high density smoke was observed over the Bay of Campeche and central Mexico. The source region for this smoke is due to the large number of fires over central Mexico. BLOWING DUST: An area of blowing dust was observed traveling from west to east from southern California, moving across the state of Arizona. Another area of smoke was observed from northern Mexico extending northeast through west Texas and much of New Mexico. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/land/hms.html GIS: http://www.firedetect.noaa.gov/viewer.htm KML: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/FIRE/kml.html ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
