DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z April 24, 2016
UPDATE SMOKE Central Plains to Western Great Lakes An area of light remnant smoke was seen in satellite imagery this morning extending from much of central Missouri and northeast Kansas into eastern Nebraska, eastern South Dakota, much of Iowa and Minnesota and western Wisconsin. This is smoke left from a tremendous number of agricultural/prescribed fires yesterday in the region. The full extend of the smoke area is difficult to discern as the boundary edge of the smoke is quite diffuse. The eastern extent of the smoke through Missouri is also a bit uncertain as it mixes with sulfates from the Ohio Valley and central Great Lakes.
