DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z May 2, 2016
SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico: An area of light to moderate density smoke spanned from Honduras across the Caribbean Sea and the Yucatan peninsula into the Bay of Campeche the western Gulf of Mexico. The full extent of the smoke was obscured by cloud cover as it moves north into the northwestern Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Coast states. This smoke is associated with the extensive seasonal burning over Mexico and Central America. -Cronin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
