DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South and Central Canada/Northern US: A large area of light to heavy density residual smoke from the Alberta and Saskatchewan wildfires is visible throughout most of Saskatchewan moving east across southern Manitoba, Ontario and into central Quebec. The smoke is moving southward through eastern Northern Plains, Upper and Middle Mississippi Valley, Upper Great Lakes and into the Ohio Valley. The full extent of the smoke is obscured by heavy cloud coverage. -Kemal THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
