DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Arizona: Several fires in central Arizona were emitting light to moderate density smoke. Smoke from the fires in Coconino County was moving in an easterly direction, while smoke from the fires in Gila County was traveling to the southwest. California: An area of moderate to heavy smoke near Monterrey was observed traveling to the north. Light smoke from other fires was also seen in San Luis Obispo and Los Angeles Counties. South Western Gulf: A thin patch of light density smoke attributed to the lingering seasonal burning over portions of southeastern Mexico and Central America extended across the Bay of Campeche. Some cloud coverage obscured the full extent of the smoke. Sandusky THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
