THROUGH 1715Z July 24, 2016
Smoke: Central Canada: A small area light density remnant smoke is present in southern Nunavut, northern Manitoba and moving into Hudson Bay. The full extent of the the smoke is obscured due to heavy cloud coverage. Wyoming and Idaho: A smoke plume containing light to moderate density smoke is visibly in central Wyoming moving northeastward to South Dakota. Smoke from a fire in southwest Idaho is also producing light to moderate density smoke with the plume traveling to the southeast. California: A brush fire in Monterrey County is producing light to medium density smoke heading south. Due to heavy cloud coverage, it is difficult to determine the full extent of the smoke. DUST: Saharan dust was observed over much of the Caribbean this morning. Kemal THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/land/hms.html GIS: http://www.firedetect.noaa.gov/viewer.htm KML: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/FIRE/kml.html ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
