DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1500Z August 10, 2016
SMOKE: North-central US Remnant light density smoke from several fires in the Western US continues to move across eastern Colorado, western Montana, and into southern Saskatchewan. California: Wild fires in California continued to burn through the night producing low density smoke moving north through the state. Canada: Fires in the Northwest Territories are producing light to moderately dense smoke that is traveling northward. Cloud cover has begun to move into the area obscuring any possible smoke further south. DUST: Gulf of Mexico: An area of Saharan Dust is observed overt the western Caribbean Sea that possibly extends into the Southern Gulf of Mexico. Boll THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
