THROUGH 0200Z September 16, 2016
SMOKE: Lower Mississippi River Valley: Numerous agricultural/prescribed burns were seen in shortwave IR in the Lower Mississippi River Valley although clouds made it difficult to discern smoke emitted by these fires. However several light density smoke plumes were seen traveling to the northwest in eastern Arkansas. Western US: Fires were seen throughout the Western US with the majority of the fires seen in the Pacific Northwest. Light to moderate density smoke plumes were emitted from these fires and were traveling to the southeast in Washington and Idaho while fires in California and Oregon plumes were traveling south. Fires in Arizona, Utah, and Colorado were producing light to moderate density smoke plumes which were traveling east. -Cronin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
