DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1745Z September 19, 2016
Smoke: California/Nevada: Light to moderate density smoke from the fires in central California fanned out both to the southwest and offshore and inland to the east and northeast. A large mass of thinner density smoke from both of these fires stretched from west central Nevada to well off the coast of central and southern California. Utah/Colorado/Idaho/Wyoming: A number of fires and visible smoke plumes were seen scattered across Utah,with the southern plume heading east into western Colorado and the northern plume heading into southeastern Idaho and southwestern Wyoming. Nebraska/Kansas: Light density remnant smoke was seen in the boarder of Nebraska and Kansas. Kemal THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
