DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0300Z November 6, 2016
SMOKE: Central and Southern Appalachians... Primarily thin density smoke from a number of wildfires scattered around portions of eastern Kentucky, eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, and northern Georgia moved erratically in various directions during the afternoon. North Dakota/South Central Canada... Many seasonal agricultural fires along with around a dozen visible thin density smoke plumes were detected over portions of North Dakota and the southern parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba in Canada. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
