DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2345Z November 11, 2016
SMOKE... Central and Southern Appalachians/Southeastern US... Wildfires across eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, and northern Georgia continued to burn and emit a significant amount of smoke through the afternoon and evening. Numerous attached smoke plumes were seen around sunset from the aforementioned wildfires. Multiple wildfires had moderate density smoke downwind of the fire with an area of light density smoke stretching into northeast Florida and extending off the coasts of Georgia and the Carolinas. BLOWING DUST... A small area of blowing dust was observed in Nevada in far southwest Lander county blowing east. FCS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
