DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE... Central and Southern Appalachians/Southeastern US... Numerous wildfires continue to burn across eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, extreme southwest Virginia, eastern Kentucky and northern Georgia. Smoke from these fires covered much of the Southeast this afternoon and evening including eastern Tennessee, eastern Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, northern Florida and adjoining waters of the Gulf of Mexico, western North Carolina, western South Carolina, southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky and extending off the South Carolina and Georgia coasts into the western Atlantic. The most dense smoke was near the fires over extreme northern Georgia, eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
