DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z March 17 2017
SMOKE: Southeastern US and Gulf of Mexico... Once again today a large number of agricultural and prescribed burns are occurring over the Southeast US, particularly the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida. Numerous small smoke plumes are already detected from these fires. There were also two patches of light remnant smoke from yesterdays fires. This smoke was seen over the northeast Gulf of Mexico and was moving to the west and catching the coast along the Florida Panhandle. Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
