DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z March 21 2017
SMOKE: OKLAHOMA/ARKANSAS.... Several large fires burning in Eastern Oklahoma are producing light density smoke plumes that extend towards the Northeast and into Southern Missouri. Fires in central Arkansas are producing light density smoke that is blanketing the majority of the northern portion of the state. SOUTHEAST.... Numerous fires in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina are producing light density smoke plumes that are predominantly traveling towards the East. BAY OF CAMPECHE.... Light density smoke mostly originating from fires on the Yucatan Peninsula are observed over the Bay of Campeche. The conglomerate of smoke is traveling towards the east. -Boll THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
