DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z April 21, 2017
SMOKE: Florida: The Parliament fire located in Collier County, Florida burned through the night producing visible light density smoke that has carried West and into the Gulf of Mexico. The smoke plume remains attached this morning and stretches up to the Alabama Gulf Coast. AEROSOL: An area of unknown aerosol was observed this morning off Western and Baja California over the Pacific Ocean. The NASA GMAO 2D model suggests the aerosol is blowing dust originating from Asia. The air mass is seen moving towards the south and along the coast. -Boll THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
