THROUGH 0230Z April 24, 2017
SMOKE: Light remnant smoke from fires burning across the Northern/Central Plains and Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley were seen moving southwest across parts of southeast/southern Missouri and into northern Arkansas. South Dakota: Fires in along the eastern edge of the state were observed emitting light amounts of smoke plumes that were traveling north to north west. Clouds that moved in during the evening hours prevented a more detailed smoke analysis via satellite for the region. Southern Georgia: Fires continue to burn along the Florida/Georgia border and were observed producing moderate amounts of smoke that was traveling north east. There was a separate patch of remnant smoke from this fire that was seen this morning off the coast of South Carolina and moving to the north northwest and inland over coastal areas of South Carolina. Southern Arizona: A large fire in southern Arizona is producing moderate amounts of smoke traveling north east. Eastern Gulf of Mexico: An elongated patch of light smoke stretching from north-northeast to south-southwest was detected over the eastern Gulf off the west coast of Florida this evening. DUST: There was an area of mostly light blowing dust seen over southern California this evening near the Salton Sea and spreading to the east into southwest Arizona. -Westbrook THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
