THROUGH 1700Z May 1, 2017
SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico... A large area of light to moderately dense smoke from the ongoing seasonal fires in southeastern Mexico and Central America covered much of the southwestern to central Gulf this morning. The smoke was mostly confined to the area south of a cold front that bisects the Gulf from northeast to southwest. The most dense smoke has accumulated over the southwest Gulf. The northeast extent of the smoke cannot be determined with accuracy due to extensive cloud cover over the northeast Gulf.
