THROUGH 0300Z May 2, 2017
SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico... A large area of light to moderately dense smoke from the ongoing seasonal fires in southeastern Mexico and Central America covered much of the Bay of Campeche along with the southwestern and central Gulf. The embedded patch of moderately dense smoke was located more over the Bay of Campeche and southwestern to south central Gulf with thick smoke present in spots over southern Mexico. The northeast extent of the smoke cannot be determined with accuracy due to extensive cloud cover over the northeast Gulf. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
