DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1900 May 11, 2017
SMOKE: Florida/Georgia/Carolinas/Western Atlantic... The West Mims fire continues to produce a wide swath of light to moderately dense smoke. A small localized plume of heavy smoke is noted east of the fire. Gulf of Mexico/Texas/Mexico... A large area of light density smoke is noted extending northwestward from the Yucatan to southern Texas. Another area of light density smoke is noted over central Mexico extending southward just west of the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Montana/Wyoming... Light density remnant smoke is noted from a fire located near the Wyoming/Montana border. The remnant plume is moving northward across eastern Montana and another plume is heading south into northeastern Wyoming. DG THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
