DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Western Gulf of Mexico / Bay of Campeche... An axis of remnant smoke from fires over Mexico extended from portions of the South Central Plains south through the western Gulf of Mexico to southeastern portions of Mexico. Mid Atlantic.... An area of aerosol that possibly had some light remnant smoke was along the Mid Atlantic Coast and extended from south of Long Island towards eastern North Carolina. DUST: The leading edge of an area of Saharan dust was over the central Caribbean Sea. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
