DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE.... Northwestern into central Canada and the northern US Plains and Upper Midwest.... Smoke from wildfires and agricultural burning over Canada extended from portions of the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest northwest through western Ontario, Manitoba, northern Saskatchewan, northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories. DUST... Caribbean.... An area of thin Saharan dust extends from the Caribbean westward towards the Yucatan and the southern Gulf of Mexico. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
