DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Alaska... Wildfires located near Alaska's Western coast are producing visible light and moderately dense smoke. The plumes are seen to rotate clockwise from the East as they increase in height. Canada... Fires in Quebec are producing light to moderately dense smoke plumes that were observed to move eastward and into the central part of the territory. DUST: California and Nevada... A narrow plume of blowing dust was observed over Death Valley and moving toward the northwest parallel to the Nevada border. An area of light blowing dust was also possible over central Nevada near sunset and moving to the east. -Boll/Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
