SMOKE: Mississippi Valley: Fires in the upper Mississippi Valley near the Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri borders were seen emitting smoke plumes traveling south east into Tennessee. Southwest US: Numerous wildfires continue to burn, primarily in New Mexico and Arizona. There are several patches of light smoke from these fires that are now rotating roughly clockwise around the Southwest that covers portions of southern California, southern Nevada, southwest Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. Areas of moderately dense smoke are mainly confined to the vicinity of the fires and mostly in the valleys and drainages associated with them Yukon Territory... An area of light smoke was seen over southwest into central Yukon Territory and spilling across the border into eastern Alaska. Cloud cover mixed in with the smoke is inhibiting accurate assessment of the full extent of the smoke. Mexico... Numerous fires were continuing to burn over northwestern Mexico, especially in Sonora and Chihuahua states and to produce smoke. The light to moderately dense smoke from these fires generally extended to the southwest into the Pacific but some of the light density smoke was filtering up the Gulf of California into extreme southwest Arizona. -Westbrook THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
