DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southwest US and Northwest Mexico Large fires in Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and along the Sierra Madre Occidental are producing a large area of light to moderate density smoke. This plume of smoke extends northeastward into the central plains as it moves around the periphery of a ridge of high pressure in the Gulf of Mexico. Northwest... A fire on the eastern slopes of the Washington Cascades was generating a small area of light density smoke. Alberta/British Columbia.... An area of remnant smoke from the fires in Yukon Territories has settled into northern Alberta and adjoining British Columbia. Gaetano THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
