DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1745Z July 13, 2017
SMOKE.... Alaska and Canada.... Wildfires continue to burn across portions of northeast Alaska, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and British Columbia. The smoke from these fires covers most of Alaska and significant portions of western and central Canada. Moderate smoke from these fires extended from southern Saskatchewan northwest into northern Alberta. California to southeastern Oregon and southern Idaho.... An area of remnant smoke extended from portions of southwestern Idaho through southeastern Oregon and into northwestern Nevada. Another area of remnant smoke from fires over central California extended over central and southern portions of California. DUST.... Caribbean.... An area of Saharan dust extended through the Caribbean Sea towards Central America and the Yucatan. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
