DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Canada/Northern Rockies/Northern Plains to the Southeast US: The combination of fire activity over the Northern Rockies, British Columbia and the Yukon was producing a large area of remnant smoke that stretches across most of Canada from portions of western Quebec extending west towards the British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. Smoke also was extending from the Southeast United States northwest to the Northern Plains and then west into the Northern Rockies where fire activity was ongoing over portions of Montana and Idaho. DUST: Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.... An area of remnant Saharan Dust extended from northern Florida across portions of the northern Gulf of Mexico towards southeast Texas. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
