DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1930Z August 4, 2017
Currently: SMOKE: British Columbia... Thick plumes of smoke from the wildfires in the province were traveling south east and were observed as far as North Dakota. Northwest Territories... Wildfires in the southeast of the province were observed producing large thick plumes of smoke seen traveling south into Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Oregon... Remnant smoke from the Spruce Lake wildfire was seen as far east as Nebraska. The fire was observed still producing smoke traveling due east. DUST: Idaho... Dust is blowing south east near Florence Idaho. Caribbean... Saharan dust is blowing east across the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and Cuba. -Westbrook THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
