DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE A weather system with extensive cloudiness has moved inland across the Pacific Northwest of the US and British Columbia. This has inhibited an accurate determination of where smoke is in these areas. Canada... An incredibly large area of smoke – much of it moderate to dense – was seen this morning over much of Canada. The smoke was over eastern British Columbia northward into far southeast Yukon Territory, all but far northern Northwest Territories, most of Nunavut west of Hudson Bay, most of Alberta, northern and northeast Saskatchewan, most of Manitoba, most of Ontario and southwest Quebec. U.S.... Remnant smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canadian fires was seen this morning over western and central Montana, eastern and central Wyoming and spilling into the central Plains as far east as west central Illinois. Patches of light to moderately dense smoke were seen over northern California. Relatively small areas of mostly light smoke were seen with a fire in the central Sierras and another in the southern Sierras. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
