DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE A weather system with extensive cloudiness has moved inland across the Pacific Northwest of the US and British Columbia. This has inhibited an accurate determination of where smoke is in these areas. Canada... A large area of smoke covered and wrapped around western, northern, and central Canada this evening. Heavily dense smoke was seen over much of Alberta, the lower half of the Northwest Territories, most of Nunavut west of Hudson Bay, and down into and over central Manitoba. Moderately dense smoke covered a slightly wider area and extended into central Ontario from the western border. Thin smoke blanketed an even greater extent of the coverage area. U.S.... Remnant smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canadian fires was seen this evening over western and central Montana, eastern and central Wyoming and spilling into the central Plains just into western Iowa. Patches of light to moderately dense smoke were seen over northern California with relatively small areas of mostly light smoke in the central Sierras and another in the southern Sierras. Boll THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
