DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1900Z August 29, 2017
SMOKE: Cascade Mountains... Numerous wildfires are producing moderate to dense smoke plumes. One dense plume is noted over central British Columbia. The Norse Peak fire in Washington is producing another plume of dense smoke. Smaller plumes of dense smoke are noted over Oregon and northern California. The Rockies... Numerous wildfires over Montana and Idaho are producing a large area of moderate to dense smoke. This smoke is generally moving eastward toward the Dakotas. Another cluster of wildfires in eastern Saskatchewan are producing moderate to dense smoke in a band extending eastward toward Ontario. Eastern Canada... Light density remnant smoke from the wildfires back west is noted across Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland. Gaetano THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
