DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1845Z September 8, 2017
SMOKE: Central and Southwest Canada/Pacific Northwest/Northern and Central Plains: A large area of moderate to high density smoke from fires over the Pacific Northwest was extending from portions of central Canada through portions of central and northern Manitoba, central and northern Saskatchewan, most of Alberta to southeastern British Columbia. The smoke plume then extended from the Pacific Northwest southeast through the Northern Rockies, Northern Plains towards the Upper Midwest and Central Plains. THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
