DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: No areas of significant remnant smoke were observed in satellite imagery this afternoon and evening. However, there were areas of notable smoke associated with today's fires: Southeastern US... Mostly light smoke plumes were detected over Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Most of the smoke was moving to the east and northeast. The most significant plume, which had moderate to dense smoke, was seen over northeast Florida near the Okefenokee swamp. Arizona... Several fires across central and eastern Arizona had light to moderately dense smoke that was moving to the northeast. California... Numerous fires were seen across much of central and northern California that were producing fairly widespread areas of light to moderately dense smoke. Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
