DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2300Z November 20, 2017
Currently: SMOKE: Lower Mississippi Valley/Southern Plains Numerous fires were burning across eastern Texas and Oklahoma and Louisiana/Arkansas with several producing light density smoke moving mostly north in direction. Earlier Today DUST: East of Windward Islands... A thin layer of Saharan dust was observed entering the southeastern Caribbean Sea. This layer had moved as far west as Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao from the central Tropical North Atlantic. The latitudinal extent of this layer spans from the island of Guadeloupe south to Grenada and Tobago. This layer was generally moving off toward the west. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
