DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern and South-Central US... Many individual smoke plumes of mainly thin density were observed during the day with numerous seasonal fires across the South Central and Southeastern US. DUST: Southeastern California... A region of primarily thin density blowing dust was seen during the afternoon spreading to the southeast from a number of sources to the north and northeast of the Salton Sea in southeastern California. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
