DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeast U.S.... A number of thin smoke plumes from seasonable fires were detected over central and southern South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. These plumes were moving to the northeast in South Carolina and southeast in Georgia and Florida Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley... Numerous thin smoke plumes, also from seasonal fires, were detected across Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, western Louisiana, and southwest Missouri. High pressure centered over northeastern Texas is resulting in anticyclonic flow with plumes moving northward over western Texas, turning to southeastward over Arkansas, and south-southwestward over Louisiana and the Texas gulf coast. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
