DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Florida... Throughout the state of Florida, smoke was observed across much of Florida. The highest density of source fires was near Lake Okeechobee. The smoke was seen moving off toward the north-northwest. California... About a dozen fires along the eastern San Joaquin Valley and northern California were observed emitting smoke this afternoon. One fire in the far northern San Joaquin Valley was seen producing thick smoke that was moving south from the source fire. Smoke from other fires was moving off generally toward the west. DUST: Southern San Joaquin Valley... Blowing dust was observed being lifted from Soda Lake in the southern San Joaquin Valley and transported toward the southwest near Santa Maria. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
