DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Florida... Several light-density smoke plumes were observed associated with agricultural fires around Lake Okeechobee. The smoke was predominantly transported toward the north of their sources. A few additional smoke plumes were observed along the Florida panhandle attributed to prescribed fires in the area. Oklahoma... A large light-to-moderate density smoke plume developed over a single wildfire detected in Woods county during the late afternoon hours. The smoke was being transported toward the north-northeast. California... A large light-to-moderate density smoke plume developed over a single wildfire detected in north Inyo county during the late afternoon hours. The smoke was being transported toward the northeast-east. DUST: Nevada... Blowing dust was observed being lifted from the Humboldt Sink dry lake bed in western Nevada and transported for more than 150 miles toward the east. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
