DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0400Z March 3, 2018
SMOKE: Central/South Central/Southeastern US... Clear skies allowed for the detection of an exceptionally large number of what are believed to be primarily seasonal fires over the Central, South Central, and Southeastern US. Numerous smoke plumes of varying density were also noted with some of the plumes combining to form larger areas of smoke. Bay of Campeche... A combination of smoke from oil rig flaring and other aerosols including possibly some smoke from seasonal fires over eastern and southeastern Mexico was visible over a portion of the Bay of Campeche. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
