DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southern Florida... Numerous presumed agricultural burns with light smoke plumes were observed this morning moving south from the area around Lake Okeechobee. Two other longer lived fires were emitting steadier and more dense smoke plumes. These smoke plumes were moving south like the other presumed agricultural fires. Southeastern US... From southern Louisiana into South Carolina, a few dozen fires were observed already emitting smoke. The smoke from these fires was observed moving clockwise around high pressure across the eastern US. Central US... The observation of smoke across southern Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas was limited to right before the time of this analysis. The few smoke plumes that have been observed were seen moving off tho the northwest. -Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
