DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1930z March 4, 2018
SMOKE: Florida... Several light-density smoke plumes were observed originating from agricultural fires south of Lake Okeechobee. Additional moderate-density smoke plumes were linked to fires at Picayune Strand State Forest, Big Cypress Reservation,and the northeast fringe of Everglades National Park along route 41. Those plumes were being transported towards the south-southwest extending a few hundred miles over the Gulf waters. Georgia... Several light-density smoke plumes were observed across the southern-half of the state. The plumes were moving towards the southwest. Gulf Waters... A large area of residual smoke from previous day fires in Georgia and Florida was seen spreading towards the southwest across the Gulf waters off the coast from Panama City/FL. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
