DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0400Z March 7, 2018
SMOKE: Florida... A region of thin density smoke was observed covering a portion of central and southern Florida. This smoke was leftover from at least a couple of wildfires burning in southwestern Florida. In addition, numerous smaller thin density smoke plumes were visible spreading to the northeast from seasonal agricultural fires burning primarily just south of Lake Okeechobee. Oklahoma/Kansas... Close to a dozen wildfires over northern Oklahoma and central Kansas were spreading large, thin density plumes quickly southeastward this afternoon and early evening with much of Oklahoma covered with these plumes. DUST: Oklahoma/Kansas... A large plume was observed this afternoon rapidly moving southeast over western Kansas spreading into north-central and northeast Oklahoma.
