DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Florida....A fire over the southern part of Florida was producing a large smoke plume that extended northwest through the eastern Gulf of Mexico. An area of moderate to high density smoke from this fire was located over far southwest Florida and extending to just off the southwest coast of Florida. Offshore Southeast United States....An thin area of remnant smoke was seen off the Southeast United States coast and was associated from fire activity over the past few days over the Southeast United States. Central Plains....A large number of agricultural fires were ongoing over much of the Central Plains with some localized moderate to high density smoke plumes. Western Gulf of Mexico....An area of thin smoke was seen over portions of the western Gulf of Mexico and was from fire activity over Mexico and also from the oil platforms just off the Yucatan. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
