DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Florida... Several small/short-duration agricultural fires were observed south of Lake Okeechobee releasing light-density smoke which was being transported towards the northwest. Additional fires were seen northwest of Gainesville and just north of Port St Joe, the latter involving a moderate-density smoke plume extending towards the northwest over the Alabama state border. Southeast... Fire activity was scattered across Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas with light-density smoke being transported towards the north. Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico... Fire activity was observed across the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula with light-density smoke being transported northeast into the Gulf of Mexico. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
