DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2007Z April 6, 2018
SMOKE: Southeastern US.... An area of thin smoke from fires over the Southeast United States were seen on satellite imagery over portions of eastern South Carolina and just offshore. Western Gulf of Mexico.... An area of thin smoke from fires over Mexico, Central America and the oil platforms off the Yucatan was extending north through the western Gulf of Mexico towards portions of coastal Texas. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
