DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE.... Gulf of Mexico....An area of thin smoke from fires over Mexico, Central America and the oil platforms off the Yucatan extended from portions of the central Gulf of Mexico southwest into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. DUST.... Texas, New Mexico and Northern Mexico....An area of blowing dust was seen extending from portions of west central Texas west through portions of southern New Mexico and northern Mexico. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
